Surgery

Surrey podiatry riar surgeryDr. Riar has performed over 1000 surgical procedures of the foot and ankle, many of which were complex reconstructions. With his extensive training, he has mastered the latest cutting edge techniques used in podiatric surgery. Today, a considerable portion of his practice is devoted to elective surgery for his patients. The majority of these minor surgeries are performed at our on-site procedure suite.

In the event that non-surgical options fail for your treatment regimen, surgery may be necessary. The mission of our clinic is to ensure that you are informed and comfortable throughout the entire surgical process. You always are encouraged to ask questions.

Pre-Operatively

Dr. Riar walks you through a thorough case review, which typically involves discussing imaging studies, like x-rays, in detail. From there, we consider all options and provide a risk / benefit analysis of each one. A recommendation will be made based on your condition, the goal of the surgery, and the risks involved.

Intra-Operatively

Our approach to creating a relaxing atmosphere continues on the date of surgery. We will perform the necessary procedures under local and/or oral sedation. You can bring a book to read, use your iPad or watch a movie during the surgery. If you need any special accommodations we will do our best to fulfill them for you.

Post-Operatively

Following your surgery, you will be seen on a regular basis for dressing changes and checking overall progress. You are encouraged to ask questions to make sure you are comfortable at home. We want you to be actively involved throughout the course of the post-operative process.
